In the world of personal finance, retirement planning is becoming the major issue. It is a subject so important to ageing populations that it cannot be left simply to chance or luck.
As the average life expectancy of our populations increases, a financial burden is being created that is almost impossible to ease. Who pays for this burden is a debate which is slowly being discussed between politicians.
However, as an individual, this subject must surely be too important to our future living standards for us to wait for a far away politician to decide for us.
The following pages discuss the issue in some depth. The first four were written as a four parter which was published as newsletter in April 2004. Ideally, they should be read as one because individually they only represent one aspect of the subject.
But be warned, if you have not read about the subject before, you might not like what you see!
